Dear KEIKO tea-lovers,

Regarding the reactor accident in Fukushima and the disquieting news from Japan, we would like to inform you about the current situation of KEIKO Tea and the measures we have taken with respect to the subject of radioactivity.
There are about 47 large tea plantations in Japan, which lie in very different regions. The most important of them are listed above.

The KEIKO-tea garden, an organic farm of approximately 8 acres, is located in the Kagoshima Prefecture on Kyushu, the southernmost peninsula of Japan. The KEIKO-tea garden in Kagoshima is the tea growing area that is located furthest from Fukushima at a distance of about 1200 km and was not affected by the radioactive fall out in the aftermath of the accident. KEIKO half-Schattentee (Shadow Tea) in certified organic quality has already been grown in this area since 1997.
We are working hard to in future also be able to exclude any risk as well as ensure the outstanding quality of KEIKO Tea. In addition to the studies on pesticide residues that we always carry out, all types of tea from the 2011 harvest have also be analyzed for radioactivity in a German laboratory.

We are very pleased that the KEIKO Tea from the 2010 and 2011 harvest shows no signs of radioactivity.

You are welcome to view the analysis on our website under www.keikotee.de.
The Shincha from the new KEIKO harvest of 2011 is already on sale. As of August, the first harvest of the other teas will also be available from us.
You can be assured that we will do everything in our power to ensure that you can in future also continue to enjoy KEIKO Tea in the usual quality. Please do not hesitate to contact us in case of further questions.

Your KEIKO team
